Biography

Jody Rigby started her love of the outdoors and successful career in horticulture with a 4-year apprenticeship in Parks and Gardens at Padstow Tafe in Sydney. During this time she also obtained both her bobcat and forklift licence, and completed a night course in permaculture.

As her trade course came to an end she was screen tested for Channel Nine’s Backyard Blitz and landed the only female role in the makeover program that would earn 7 Logie awards in its 8-year run. During this period Jody also contributed to Burke's Backyard magazine, and did research for the television program of the same name. Jody's other television ventures include Channel Seven's ‘Outdoor Room’, where she worked alongside Jamie Durie, and she can currently be seen as co-host of the Lifestyle Channel's ‘Garden Angels’.

A keen writer, Jody produced the reference book ‘150 Indestructible Plants’ - released September 2010 - and contributes to several magazines. She also runs a successful Garden design and horticultural consultation service in the inner suburbs of Sydney and in her spare time enjoys the arts, music and has been playing drums for the past 15 years in various bands. A new love of photography, in particular Flora-based works, has seen her photos published in her own book and various magazines.
