We had moved house and were trying to help our two-year-old daughter, Talayna, adjust to her new home. I assured her that even though her bedroom was now a little farther away from our room, we’d still hear if she called us.
For the first week, she’d call out three times a night, and I’d go into her room. After the second week of getting out of bed, I told her that Daddy could hear her too, and she could call him.
Sure enough, one night we heard, “Daddy!”
My husband soon returned to our bedroom laughing, and explained, “Talayna told me, ‘Please get Mummy!’"

Returning home from dinner out one night, I started feeling sick. Suspecting food poisoning, I called the restaurant’s manager.
“I cannot believe that happened,” the woman said. She sounded genuinely shocked. “What did you order?”
“I had the steak.”
“That’s weird,” she observed. “Usually it’s the meat loaf.”

I was helping my in-laws hang a large picture over their couch. We marked the location of the necessary hooks, hammered them in and hung the painting, only to find it wasn’t centred.
As we discussed how best to rehang the picture, my brother-in-law simply pushed the sofa over a little: it was now centred perfectly.
