Getting rid of gum and goo

Email thisPrintRSS FeedAddThis Social Bookmark ButtonFont Size
It's a sticky dilemma: gum, playdough, sand, you name it, and it all seems to end up in kids’ hair. Here are some removal tips and tricks:

Chewing gum: Comb olive oil or peanut butter through the gummy section, then wash hair; or rub an ice cube over the gum to freeze it, then peel it off a piece at a time.

Playdough: Let the playdough dry and harden, then crumble it off with your fingers.

Sand: Using a soft-bristled brush, lightly brush hair to loosen the sand so it doesn’t get embedded in the scalp. Then wash hair well to remove any oil, so the sand has nothing to stick to.
