Are prawns high in cholesterol?

Prawns are high in cholesterol.

THE TRUTH:

Most of the cholesterol in our blood is made by the liver from foods that are high in saturated fat – only about 25 per cent comes from foods high in cholesterol.

Although prawns and other shellfish do contain relatively high levels of cholesterol, they are low in fat and particularly low in saturated fat.

They also contain trace elements and minerals such as selenium, iodine and zinc.
