STEP 1

Sketch out a plan of the installation on paper. Next, using a straightedge, pencil in a series of marks along all four sides of the window frame, showing the line where the edge of the architrave will sit.

STEP 2

Cut the window board 150mm longer than the overall width of the window. Centre the window board and scribe it to the lower sash. Shape the ends to match the curved front profile of the window board.

STEP 3

Place the side architrave on the reveal and mark where it meets the pencil marks. Cut the architrave to length, mitring if necessary. Use 50mm nails to secure in position and repeat process on other side.

STEP 4

Corner blocks should be slightly wider and thicker than the architraves. Pre-drill holes and nail in place. To avoid splitting the timber of the architrave, drill pilot holes for nails placed near the end of a piece of trim.

STEP 5

Measure and cut top architrave. Fit it into place between corner blocks, aligning with pencil marks. Secure top architrave to jamb and frame beneath plasterboard using same method as with side architrave.
