Ken Burns Roadshow Competition

1. This promotion is open only to Australian residents and opens on June 23 2010. Entries close midnight July 23 2010. The prizes will be drawn at on July 28 July 2010 at 10.30 a.m. The promoter may conduct such further judging at the same place as the original judging as is necessary on 25 August 2010 in order to distribute the prizes if they are unclaimed by that date. The promoter cannot accept responsibility for lost, misdirected or delayed entries.

2. The prize winners will be notified in writing immediately after the judging and the winner will be listed at www.readersdigest.com.au

Ryobi Handyman DIY Voting Competition

1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

2. Entry is only open to Australian residents. Employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter and agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, exspouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or 1st cousin.

3. Promotion commences on 07/07/10 and closes at 11:59pm AEST 31/08/10 (“Promotional Period”).

4. To enter, entrants must during the Promotional Period, visit www.handyman.net.au, and follow the prompts to enter the mandatory information and submit a vote for their favourite DIY Repair. By submitting a vote the entrant will receive one (1) entry into the draw.

5. Multiple entries for multiple votes permitted, however each vote must be submitted separately and in accordance with entry requirements.

6. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

7. The draw will take place at the Promoters office, Level 1, 666 Doncaster Road, Doncaster VIC 3108 on 01/09/10 at 12:00pm AEST. Winner will be notified by phone and in writing and the winner’s name will be published in The Australian on 08/09/10. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

8. The first valid entry drawn will win a four (4) piece Lithium Kit valued at $499.00

9. If the prize is unavailable, the Promoter, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the prize with a prize to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority.

10. Total prize pool value is $499.00. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.

Ryobi Handyman DIY Competition

1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

2. Entry is only open to Australian residents who are able to have their DIY Repair fixed between 01/09/10 and 17/09/10 (“Entrants”). Employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter and agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or 1st cousin.

3. Incomplete, indecipherable or illegible entries or votes will be deemed invalid.

4. Multiple entries permitted, subject to the following: (a) each entry must be substantially unique; (b) the same entry cannot be entered more than on one occasion; and (c) each entry must be submitted separately and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

5. Promotion commences on 28/04/10. Entries close 11:59pm AEST on 30/06/10 (“Promotional Period”).

6. To submit an entry, Entrants must during the Promotional Period, either:

(a) visit www.handyman.net.au, follow the prompts to the relevant page, complete the online entry form by including all mandatory information, as well as providing details of their own DIY Repair in fifty (50) words or less and upload at least two (2) photos. Entrants must upload at least one (1) photo of their own DIY Repair and at least one (1) photo of themselves and submit the fully completed entry form or

(b) write their full name, address, email address and provide details of their own DIY Repair in fifty (50) words or less on a piece of paper, enclose at least two (2) photos and send to ‘Ryobi Competition, PO Box 121 Doncaster, VIC 3108. Entrants must include at least one (1) photo of their own DIY Repair and at least one (1) photo of themselves.

7. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners.

8. Entries received by 11:59pm AEST on 25/05/10 will be eligible for the Mid- competition Prize. Entries that are eligible for the Mid-competition Prize will be individually judged according to the following criteria: (a) lack of skill; (b) lack of judgement; and (c) how far the end result differed from the Entrant’s original intention of the project. Unjudged entries of the Mid-competition Prize will roll over into the judging of the second round. The winner of the Mid-competition Prize will NOT be eligible to be judged for the second round. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

9. The best entry, as determined by the judges, from all eligible entries received prior to 11:59pm on 25/05/10, will win the Mid-competition Prize of a Ryobi 4-Piece Lithium Kit valued at $649.00.

10. At the conclusion of the Promotional Period, a panel of judges appointed by the Promoter will judge each of the valid entries submitted according to the following criteria: (a) lack of skill; (b) lack of judgement; (c) how far the end result differed from the Entrant’s original intention of the project; and (d) that the Entrant’s DIY Repair can be fixed within the $5,000 budget. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

11. The best five (5) entries, as determined by the judges at the conclusion of the Promotional Period, will be eligible for the second round.

12. In the second round the best five (5) entries will be posted on the promotional website, where members of the public can cast their vote.

13. Voting is open to Australian Residents (“Voters”).

14. Voting commences on 07/07/10 and closes at 11:59pm AEST 31/08/10 (“Voting Period”).

15. To submit a vote, the Voter must during the Voting Period, visit www.handyman.net.au, follow prompts and enter the mandatory information and then vote for their favourite entry, in accordance with the directions.

16. Multiple votes permitted, however each vote must be submitted separately.

17. At the conclusion of Voting Period, the entry with the most number of votes, will be declared the winner and win the ‘Major Prize’. Where there is a tie and the votes do not adequately determine the winner of the Major Prize, then the Promoter will determine the winner in its absolute discretion.

18. The Major prize will include: (a) a Ryobi tool kit which includes: Ryobi Mitre Saw; Ryobi Shop Vac; Ryobi 4-Piece Lithium Kit; Ryobi 80 Bar Pressure Washer; Ryobi Touchstart Line Trimmer; and Ryobi Petrol Chainsaw valued at up to $1,974.00; and (b) a Ryobi rescue team will be sent to the location of the winner’s home to help fix the Repair up to the value of $5,000.00. The Ryobi rescue team will be determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.

19. Entrants acknowledge and agree that simply because their entry may be deemed eligible for the purpose of the second round, this should not be taken at anytime as an indication that their DIY Repair will be capable of being fixed within the $5,000 budget.

20. The winner of the Major Prize acknowledges and agrees: (a) if the Promoter determines that the DIY Repair cannot be fixed within $5,000, in its absolute discretion, it will award a Ryobi tool kit to the value of $5,000 in lieu of the prize. The exact contents of the Ryobi tool kit will be determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion; (b) that the Promoter will fix their DIY Repair subject to it being capable of being fixed within the value of up to $5,000; (c) the winner must be available to have their DIY Repair fixed between 01/09/10 and 17/09/10; (d) the location must be safe; and (e) the DIY Repair either does not require council approval, or, in the case council approval is required, the winner has obtained council approval. It is the responsibility of the winner to obtain council approval.

21. It is a condition of receiving the Major Prize that the winner must sign a Deed of Participation, Assignment, Release and Indemnity (“the Deed”), in a form determined by the Promoter. If the Major Prize winner refuses to sign the Deed, then they will forfeit the Major Prize and it will be offered to another Entrant, as determined by the Promoter.

22. Total prize pool value is up to $7,623.00. Prizes, or any unused portion of a prize, are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.

23. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Errors and omissions will be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

24. If any prize (or part of any prize) is unavailable, the Promoter, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the prize (or that part of the prize) with a prize to the equal value and/or specification.

25. Entrants agree to the following conditions regarding to their entry:

(i)When you submit any materials via the Promotion including comments, recordings and images (“Content”), you, unless the Promoter advises otherwise, license and grant Company, its affiliates and sub-licensees a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, and sub-licensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish and display such Content for any purpose in any media, without compensation, restriction on use, attribution or liability. You agree not to assert any moral rights in relation to such use. You warrant that you have the full authority to grant these rights.

(ii)You agree that you are fully responsible for the Content you submit. The Promoter shall not be liable in any way for such Content to the full extent permitted by law. The Promoter may remove any Content without notice for any reason whatsoever. You warrant and agree that: (a) you will not submit any Content that is unlawful or fraudulent, or that the Promoter may deem in breach of any intellectual property, privacy, publicity or other rights, defamatory, obscene, derogatory, pornographic, sexually inappropriate, violent, abusive, harassing, threatening, objectionable with respect to race, religion, origin or gender, not suitable for children aged under 15, or otherwise unsuitable for publication; (b) you will obtain prior consent from any person or property that appears in your Content; (c) you will obtain full prior consent from any person who has jointly created or has any rights in the Content, to the uses and terms herein; (d) your Content shall not contain viruses or cause injury or harm to any person or entity; and (e) you will comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including without limitation, those governing copyright, content, defamation, privacy, publicity and the access or use of others' computer or communication systems.

(iii)Without limiting any other terms herein, you indemnify the Promoter for any breach of the above terms.

26. Entrants consent to the Promoter using the Entrant's name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this competition (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter.

27. If this promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law (a) to disqualify any Entrant; or (b) to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the promotion, as appropriate.

28. Any cost associated with accessing the promotional website is the Entrant’s responsibility and is dependent on the Internet service provider used.

29. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Promoter (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion, including, but not limited to, where arising out of the following: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry, vote or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) if the appearance of any or all of the Ryobi rescue team is cancelled for any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (f) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant; or (g) use or receiving a prize.

30. The Promoter collects personal information in order to conduct the promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, and prize suppliers. Entry is conditional on providing this information. Monthly Giveaway - Jan 09-Jun 09
1. This prize scheme is open to residents of Australia and New Zealand aged 18 years or older only and opens 1st January 2009. Entries close on 30th June 2009. The prizes will be drawn at KPMG, 10 Shelley Street, Sydney on the 10/02/09, 10/03/09, 14/04/09, 12/05/09, 09/06/09 and the 14/07/09 at 3:00pm.

2. The promotional material, information on how to enter and prize details form part of these rules. To be eligible to enter the draw, you must reply in accordance with the conditions specified in this promotion. Employees of Reader's Digest, WDF Coghlan Limited, the partners and members of the staff of the Chartered Accountants KPMG and members of their immediate families are not eligible to enter. All eligible entries will have an equal chance to win. Reader's Digest cannot accept responsibility for lost, misdirected or delayed entries.

3. Chartered Accountants, KPMG will conduct the draw and the winners declared will be final and no further correspondence will be entered into.

4. The first eligible entry drawn each month will win $1,000 cash, paid in the local currency of winner. Total Number of prizes: 6. Total value of giveaway $6,000.

5. The prizewinner will be notified in writing immediately after the draw and will be announced in 'The Australian' on the 13/02/09, 13/03/09, 17/04/09, 15/05/09, 12/06/09 and the 17/07/09 and in New Zealand in the 'Sunday Star-Times' on the 15/02/09, 15/03/09, 19/04/09, 17/05/09, 14/06/09 and the 19/07/09 .

6. The promoter may conduct such further draws at the same place as the original draw as is necessary on 15th October 2009 at 3:00pm in order to distribute any prizes unclaimed by that date. The re-drawn prizewinner will be notified in writing immediately after the draw and will be announced in 'The Australian' on 23rd October 2009 and in New Zealand in the ‘Sunday Star-Times’ on 25th October 2009.

7. The cash prizes may be represented from time to time as merchandise. Prize preferences indicated by participants at time of entry simply highlight options available and are not binding; actual choices will be confirmed with the winner following the draw. Cash prizes will be paid in the local currency of the winner.

8. All entries become the property of the promoter. The promoter may use the entrants' names, addresses and photographs for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes. The promoter's decision on all matters pertaining to this promotion is final.

9. If entry is to be made by sending an SMS to 0429 946 946, the cost to the caller will not exceed 50 cents plus GST.

10. If entry is to be made via the internet, the close time and date for entry into the promotion is 11.59PM AEST on the deadline date stated. Limitations on the number of entries permitted could include either one (1) entry only permitted per unique email address OR one (1) entry only permitted per household OR one (1) entry only permitted per entry opportunity.
