Repairing a Leaky Gutter

What you'll need to repair a leaky gutter...
• Work gloves (optional)
• Clean rags and a solvent (such as acetone)
• Paintbrush or putty knife
• Fibreglass resin, gutter sealant
• Scissors or tin snips
• Wire brush or abrasive paper
• Fibreglass or metal patch
• Pop rivets and rivet gun (for metal patches)

STEP 1
Clean area with a wire brush or abrasive paper. Wipe area with solvent and allow to dry. Cut a patch to cover the area plus 50mm all around if using fibreglass, 50mm longer for a metal patch.

STEP 2
For a fibreglass patch, apply a thin coat of mixed resin to the gutter with a paintbrush, as shown. Be careful not totouch the resin. For a metal patch, spread a 3mm layer of sealant with a putty knife.

STEP 3
Press patch into adhesive with a rag. Fibreglass – apply a thin coat of resin over patch, wait 24 hours, sand, and apply another coat. Metal – rivet patch both ends; spread sealant over edges and let dry.
