The facts on Australian spiders
To treat a spider bite, wash the area with soap and water then apply an antibiotic cream and ice or a cold towel. Elevate the limb or affected part of the body and seek emergency treatment as soon as possible.

Daddy long-legs
There is no record of a daddy long-legs biting a human or that they’re poisonous, making it an urban myth that the venom of this spider is deadly but its fangs are too fragile to pierce the skin. Daddy long-legs build webs in quiet areas of the home and they like to eat redbacks.
Pest-proofing the house
Ron Aliotta of Amalgamated Pest Control offers his advice.
INSIDE Fix leaking taps that provide moisture sources for insects, store food in sealed containers to limit odours, and keep storage areas such as wardrobes tidy, rotating items occasionally. Clear out subfloor areas to discourage rodents from making nests, and seal entry points in wall cavities and subfloors.
OUTSIDE Seal gaps under external doors and repair or install flyscreens. Cut back branches to block access to the roof, keep the yard free of rotting vegetation that provides food for roaches and rodents, and remove water that mossies use for breeding.
