5 tips for taking stunning photos at this year’s NSW Seniors Festival
The NSW Seniors Festival is a photographer’s dream, abuzz with activity, awash in colour, and full of vibrant visitors taking in the spectacular art, music and theatre and exhibitions.
But as any smartphone snapper knows, capturing all that action on a pocket camera is no easy feat.
Here, we look at some of the highlights from the upcoming Art of Ageing exhibition, and consider the simple techniques that make the photographs so successful. Follow these, and your Seniors Fest photos will shine.
The Art of Ageing will be on display at the NSW Seniors Festival, which runs from 12 – 23 February. Don’t forget your camera!
Don’t stress about your gear
Great photos require great subjects – not a great camera. This photo of Angie and Paul Bell with their twin grandchildren, taken by Julie Slavin, shows what can be achieved with a simple setup when you get the timing just right.
Engage with your subject
Let your subjects talk, give them a prop and don’t be afraid to have fun. This photo of Graham Gibbons finds him at home in his shed, and his sense of ease with the photographer and his surrounds shines through.
